Sunday Madness!

8 February 2009

One fateful Sunday afternoon, we finished our lunch at T3 and were walking back to the MRT when we heard a familiar tune playing. Janie exclaimed, "Hey I like this song and dance very much!" and led us to where the music was coming from. Apparently it was a booth set up by Visa to get people dancing to that catchy fun tune and enter a contest to vie for the funniest video. We gamely stepped up to the challenge and you can see the resulting video below!

'Chicken Boat'

30 Jan 2009

Emily so kindly invited the cg over to her place for steamboat though she made it very clear she wasn't gonna give out red packets to her unmarried peers =p=p=p Esther was smart, she brought Travis along!

However, instead of a steamboat, it turned out to be a 'Chicken Boat', so aptly coined by the 'joker' in the cg, Junhan! No matter, it was a fun time of fellowship over yummy KFC chicken!

Our poor brother, Junren, lost twice in the number game and was 'blessed' with two chunky thigh pieces! Hee, which he promptly persuaded Kelvin to help him finish one piece!

Thereafter, it was fun and laughter with silly games on the Wii... check out the silly antics the guys got into in the two videos below!!

Operation Makeover (Episode 1: Bryan)

It all started with a normal conversation at our usual food haunt, Changi Airport Terminal 3 Food Court. Then attention was zoomed in onto the innocent brother, Bryan, sitting at the table with 3 other females. Edmund Tay strongly encouraged some radical changes to Bryan, who could only smile sheepishly. After much persuasion, words and saliva being used, Bryan agreed to Operation Makeover.

The Before Pic

Steps:
1. Get contacts
2. Get a new haircut and a stylist to teach him how to style
3. Get new clothes and new shoes
4. Get perfume

Step 1 of the Operation was successfully cleared that very day at Tampines Mall, assisted and executed by agents Efi and Emily.

Eye-check

Ya, actually Bryan's eyes are very big, just that they are hidden behind his glasses!

At the counter making payment... and soon to embark on training on "how to wear contacts"! Bryan is very nervous!

Listening attentively to instructions!

Trying out for himself! He took a while and several tries but it was very brave and courageous of him! Thank goodness we didn't have to wait an hour for him to get it right!

*Whew whew* Don't you think Bryan looks very good-looking without glasses?

Now, we are looking forward to the other steps of the Operation being cleared for a whole new Bryan! Btw, who else in the cg is volunteering for Operation Makeover? =D

Happy Birthday Merlyn!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MERLYN!

Indeed, you have really grown from glory to glory...! From one who often goes for Sat service by herself to one who is always there, rain or shine, to book seats for the whole cg every Sun morning; from one who said she's a bit too busy to join a ministry to one who's actively serving in MS Care; you are an example to all with your dedication and commitment!

We know that 2009 will hold even more breakthroughs for you as you take a step forward to do what He wants you to do! SOT this year ah? Your Spirit-filled Bible is already a confirmation!! =)))

See video below for Merlyn's birthday celebration! Warning: may be a bit long!

The Crossover

We had an awesome night, ushering into 2009. First stop, dinner at Thai Accent. After which we watched Bedtime Stories by Adam Sandler. Only six months ago Sandler was trying to ease Middle East tensions in "You Don't Mess with the Zohan," and now it's all bug-eye guinea pigs, gumball storms, and Buzz Lightyear cameos. Well, the group had a great laugh for the entire 95 minutes.

The rest of the night was spent chasing fireworks at Keppel Bay with this bunch =)

New Year, New Goals!

Today we had the very first service of 2009 and Pastor Kong laid out his vision for the church this year.

The strength of City Harvest is not in our size or assets, but the sum total of the EDUCATION, CREATIVITY and CHARACTER of our people.

He then went on to go through the planned events of the year that showed how he was going to enhance our education - both spiritual and in the natural, release our creativity and develop our character. He had specific events all detailed out, with a scheduled date and even speakers all invited. His vision for the church wasn't just a pie in the sky in the sweet by and by, but concrete plans that are sure to be fulfilled!

Indeed, for every goal you have set for yourself this year, really sit down and work out your action plan, detailing exactly how you are going to fulfill them and then JUST DO IT!

2009 will be the best year yet for us and for N416!

P.S. If you haven't planned out your goals for the new year, do it soon! You can download the template here.
